ARIEF HAMIZAN

Co-founder

Arief Hamizan is a theatre director, actor, and writer who has performed and presented work across Malaysia and Singapore. Notable theatre credits include 'Shakespeare's R+J', 'The Pillowman', and 'LIGHT'.

Beyond Panas Panas Theatre, Arief is an Associate Artist with Nusantara Theatrical Combat. He also works in arts advocacy as an Executive Committee member of ReformARTsi.

HANA NADIRA

Co-founder

Hana Nadira has toured to Seoul, Manila and around Malaysia with KL Shakespeare Players, and performed in Singapore in the critically acclaimed ​Normal​ (Best Ensemble nomination, Life Theatre Awards 2017). In 2020, a show she performed in, A Tale of Star-Crossed Lovers was invited to perform in Milan and was given the Special Mentions Award by the jury. In 2016, Hana won Best Actor award​ at the Short+Sweet Theatre Festival (2016).


A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Hana wrote and composed Belantara, a musical about intertwining local folklores that won Best Composition and Best Music Director at the Short and Sweet Musical Festival 2015. She was later awarded Cendana’s ‘Emerging Artist Incubation Grant’ to further develop the script and score, which was completed in 2019.

ALI MOTAMEDI

Co-founder

Ali Motamedi is a film and theatre director, writer and producer. An active member of the arts community, he focuses on advocacy and research as Executive Committee member of ReformARTsi, an independent arts coalition which advocates for policy reform for the performing arts, and a co-founding member of ERTI Arts Research Collective.


Outside the theatre, Ali is the co-founder and executive producer of Kampung Pictures, a multidisciplinary production house based in Kuala Lumpur. With Kampung Pictures, Ali has produced and directed campaigns and commercials for various corporate clients.

ARIFF KAMIL

Co-founder

Ariff Kamil started in theatre writing for the sketch show INDICINELIVE! IV (2012) by KLPAC. Eager to learn more, he signed up for Kakiseni and JKKN's New Works Grant and from this came his first full length play, ANAK/BENIH (2015) staged by Theatrethreesixty. His other credits include directing THE DUMB WAITER (2013), writing and performing for NEVER EAT TOO MUCH BEFORE RAPTURE (2014), assistant director for the play SAMAR (2017) which is under the KENDURI KENDARA triptych, and sound design for ANGELS IN AMERICA: PART 1 (2015).

SYAHIRA ZAKARIA

PR/Marketing Director

Syahira is a strong PR professional with an LLB, experienced lifestyle blogger and fashion influencer with a demonstrated history of working in the fashion industry. She enjoys developing integrated communications and marketing strategies in this ever-changing digital world. 

Currently, Syahira works for a Corporate PR IR Agency as a consultant to public listed companies in corporate communications matters. Her main practice is in corporate PR and investor relations while she delights in coming up with branding and social media marketing strategies in her off-time.

SANDEE CHEW

Collaborator

Sandee Chew is an actor, lighting designer, and unofficial dramaturg, with interest in audience and theatre development. She is a co-founder and former ensemble member of Shakespeare Demystified, and currently, a core member, actor and writer for KL Shakespeare Players’s Exchange Theatre series. Recently, she served as a committee member of grassroots initiatives, ReformARTsi and Malaysian Theatre Association (MaTA). In another life, she was also a theatre consultant and architecture lighting design assistant with Stage Centre Line Associates.


As a lighting designer, she won the BOH Cameronian Award in 2009 and participated in Japan Foundation’s JENESYS Programme: Invitation Programme for Creators in 2012.
